It' January. The holidays are over. The boxes are shipped out for Christmas and New Years. The next holiday is Valentine's Day and since it is mostly men buying expect last minute orders. So what does one do during the low of the year?
1.
Your taxes.
2. Review your product line. Where do you need to make changes? Where do you see opportunities for growth.
3. Make a production schedule. When do you need to get your product ready for different seasons, to preview on etsy, and how early do you need to start?
4. Refresh your brand. Take a look at your blog, social media, packaging, everything to do with your business. Where can you tweak, refresh, or find changes you want to make.
5. Reorder business cards.
6. Research stores that you may want to approach for wholesale accounts. Visit the store, get the owners info and prepare your line sheets.
7. Create a editorial calendar for your blog. Do you have sessional items to sell? Plan it out ahead of time to promote on your blog. Meanwhile get other ideas together for your posts.
8. Join a support group for indy business owners in your community.
9. Get your marketing together. Do you know when you want to have sales? Where are you placing your advertising dollars?
10. Start planning on what craft shows you want to attend in the summer. Some applications are opening now.
11. Redo your photography in your shop.
12. Play with your creative skills. You never know what new item you may come up with.
13. Get some coffee. The holiday rush is over. Take a break.
14. Redo your booth. What went well at craft shows? What didn't work. Get a game plan together.
15. E-mail those people whose business cards you picked up at craft shows. Network, network, network.
16. Get your friends feedback on your shop.
What are you doing this January?
Those are some good ideas. I am just going to school this month so I am going to focus on that and try and blog as much as possible :)
